Charlene Virlouvet is a theatre actor and director based in Cebu. For over two decades, she’s been a steady presence in the city’s theatre scene, with work that bridges performance, leadership, and community. As Managing Director of 2TinCans Philippines Inc. and a committed community builder, she balances creative vision with the kind of behind-the-scenes work that keeps theatre running and artists supported.

Her acting credits include Truvy in Steel Magnolias, Gertrude in Hamlet, Dr. Emma Brookner in The Normal Heart, and Mother Miriam in Agnes of God to name a few. She has also performed in The Vagina Monologues every year since 2004. Charlene recently made her directorial debut with Love, Loss, and What I Wore. Behind the scenes, she has extensive experience as a production manager and stage manager. While her training is rooted outside the academic system, it’s shaped by years of workshops, mentorships, and hands-on experience that have shaped her into a thoughtful, detail-driven artist.

Beyond the stage, Charlene builds spaces for artists to connect and grow. She founded One-Day Ensemble, a community musical theatre initiative that brings people together through ensemble singing.

Charlene believes in theatre as both an art and an act of empathy—a space where people meet themselves and each other through shared stories. For her, theatre echoes Brian Cox’s sentiment of being “the church of human experience,” where stories come alive to reveal truth, humanity, and the enduring role of art in society.
